This travesty needs more coverage: https://agfundernews.com/apeel-founder-on-maha-misinformation-layoffs-and-a-second-act-in-post-harvest-tech

Unfortunately The Free Press has a paywall, so I can't share the original here. But Fast Company has also done an article: https://www.fastcompany.com/91554781/the-startup-that-tried-to-fix-food-waste-and-got-hit-by-a-disinformation-campaign

Yes, the company has gone through many challenges due to misinformation. One of my goals through this series of articles is to highlight the stories behind this product so we can have a more evidence-based discussion.

Your avocado toast game is SUPREME. I am on my way to find some apricot-jalapeño jelly to try on mine!

I could eat avocado toast every day!! One of my fun possessions is a molcajete which I bought from Oaxaca a few years ago for making salsa and guac. You can get them on Amazon as well.

My mother would buy an avocado now and then back in the 1960s. Weren't they sometimes called alligator pears back then? She'd have it those little glasses of shrimp cocktail they sold at the supermarket. Then, she'd try to germinate the pit, held up by toothpicks, in one of those glasses. They never took. Some must have had success. There used to be ads in the back of Cosmopolitan pushing avocados with the adventures of someone or another and her avocado plant. Not every Cosmopolitan girl had a boyfriend even back then. Mad Magazine had Arthur the avocado plant as a mascot. Ah, avocados, ah, many memories.

Yes, they were called alligator pears and some other male body part names as well.😀Yes, there was a push to get more people to eat more avocados by talking about their health benefits too.
